Who is responsible (data controller)
This site is a personal project. The data controller is Daniele De Prosperis, acting in a personal capacity, reachable at wwdkdan@gmail.com. There is no data protection officer, because the processing described below does not require one under Article 37 GDPR. This notice is provided under Articles 13 and 14 of Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR).
What is collected, why, and on what legal basis
Aggregate readership. For each page request the site stores the page path, the date and time, the referring website’s hostname and — when the request comes from a declared AI crawler — that crawler’s public name. It does not store IP addresses, user-agent strings, device fingerprints, advertising identifiers or any cookie for public visitors. This is statistical information about pages, not about people; to the extent any of it were considered personal data, the legal basis is the controller’s legitimate interest in knowing which pages are useful and how machines read the site (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). Retention: 13 months.
Emails you send. If you write to the address above — a correction, a question, an objection — your email address and message are processed to reply to you and to keep a record of corrections. Legal basis: legitimate interest in maintaining an accurate public record and in answering correspondence (Article 6(1)(f)), or the performance of a legal obligation where one applies (Article 6(1)(c)). Retention: as long as needed for the exchange and any resulting correction note, then deleted.
Optional agreement checker. If you choose to upload a publishing agreement as a PDF, the document is transmitted once to the AI provider for a single evaluation and is not stored by this site. Legal basis: your explicit request and consent (Article 6(1)(a)); you provide it by ticking the acknowledgement box and pressing the button. You can simply not use the feature, or use the manual checklist instead, which sends nothing anywhere.
Administrator access. The private editorial area uses one essential session cookie for the site owner. Legal basis: legitimate interest in the security of the site (Article 6(1)(f)).
Who else may process the data (recipients)
- The hosting provider that runs the server, acting as a processor on the controller’s instructions.
- Anthropic, for the optional PDF review only, as a processor for that single request. This involves a transfer outside the EEA; such transfers rely on the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses and the provider’s supplementary measures. If you do not want that transfer, do not use the upload feature.
- The automatic translation provider, only if you actively request a translation.
- Nobody else. Personal data is never sold, rented, exchanged or used for advertising or profiling.
Automated decision-making
None. The agreement checker produces an informational summary; it makes no decision about you, produces no legal effect and never scores a person.
Your rights
Under Articles 15–22 GDPR you may request access to your personal data, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing and data portability, and you may object to processing based on legitimate interest. Where processing rests on consent, you may withdraw it at any time. Write to wwdkdan@gmail.com; a reply is due within one month.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. For this controller that is the Italian Garante per la protezione dei dati personali (Piazza Venezia 11, 00187 Roma — garanteprivacy.it), or the authority of your own country of residence.
Children
This site addresses adults making publishing decisions and is not directed at children. No data is knowingly collected from minors.
Changes
Material changes to this notice are dated below and, where they affect you, announced on the site.

A note on what is deliberately absent
There is no advertising network, no analytics platform, no social pixel, no newsletter tracker, no A/B testing tool and no data broker in this site. That is a design decision, and it is why the notice above is short enough to read.
